I have adored MSM for a long time {she wrote a series about starting out in a tiny basement apartment and I...well, I live in a tiny basement apartment, husband in grad school, far from home, dedicated to not taking on debt, and so on and so forth...goodness, I love that woman! Hi, Karen! Thank you for your kind words. I really hope that you can find the time and extra drive to write; it's really worth it! I wrote a while ago about what my writing schedule looks like...but I have the advantage of a 2 hour nap time every day. Even if you can only carve out 10 minutes each weekday to write, I think it's worth the time to see your dreams take shape.

Hi! I'm an aspiring writer (too? I guess you're no longer aspiring, since you're already publishing) and finished the first draft of my novel over a year ago. Since then, we've had a third baby and adopted my husband's 10 y/o cousin, so my time to write is limited. But I did want to say that your blog on MSM's site was encouraging. So thank you! Hopefully, before too long, I can join you among the ranks of published writers.

Oh my goodness, you certainly do have your hands full! I keep thinking ahead to how on earth I'll find writing time once we get past the days of long nap times or add more kids to the mix...so if you find anything that works, let me know!
DeleteOne thing that might work is breaking it down into pages? The average novel page is 250-300 words. When I have an idea of what I'm writing, that's pretty easy to knock out in 20 minutes or so. Maybe that would be a good place to start? A page a day makes for a first draft in a year, and for a busy mom that's not too shabby! Then again, even that might be a stretch with all those little ones running around! God bless you for the work you're doing there; just keep praying and watching for those writing opportunities, and He'll be faithful to provide.
